Protesters Hold Adamu Hostage At APC Headquarters

There was pandemonium at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a crowd of protesters yesterday stormed the Buhari House in Wuse 2, Abuja, demanding the removal of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chairman of the party, Abdulmalik Usman.

The protesters accused the national chairman of collecting bribes from some FCT politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pave the way for the opposition party to defeat the APC in 2023 general elections.

“We want to see Adamu. He must stop the impunity by ensuring that Abdulmalik is not sworn in the third time. If he fails to address us it means that he has collected money from the PDP so that APC will lose FCT again in the 2023 elections,” they stated.

Panic broke loose at the secretariat when the aggrieved APC forcefully gained entrance into the premises of the party’s headquarters, holding everybody hostage and disrupting free vehicular and human movement inside the secretariat,

They insisted that they must see the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, bent on accessing the national chairman, who had arrived in his office not quite long before the protest began.

The combined team of security operatives guarding the secretariat was overwhelmed, as efforts to contain the protest, including barricading the main entrance to the chairman’s office, were fiercely resisted by the protesters who were adamant about their demands.

The protesters who carried placards with different inscriptions defied threats by the security operatives to shoot them, just as they insisted that the FCT chapter chairman of the party, Abdulmalik Usman must be removed.

Some of the inscriptions on their placards read: “Oath of office can only be taken twice, APC FCT chairman, Abdul Malik Usman, has taken oath of office twice, it is impunity to keep him, “FCT Congress 2021 must be recognised, “FCT APC chairman must go for refusal to accept the new party executive of FCT!!!, “We say no to party impunity of FCT, “National Chairman APC, do not condone impunity, “APC must not only preach equity and justice but must demonstrate equity and justice.”
