PSG Cautious Of Wounded Liverpool Threat Ahead Of Champions League Clash

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has warned that his side will not underestimate Liverpool despite the English side’s inconsistent form ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Speaking before today’s encounter at the Parc des Princes, Vitinha stressed that Liverpool’s pedigree makes them a dangerous opponent regardless of recent results.

“Liverpool are Liverpool,” he said. “Even if they are not in their best form, they remain a great team. We will need to be at 100 per cent because this will be a very difficult match.”

The tie rekindles last season’s dramatic meeting between the clubs, when Liverpool edged the first leg in Paris before PSG responded at Anfield and progressed on penalties en route to winning their maiden Champions League title.

However, Liverpool arrives in Paris under pressure. Arne Slot’s side were thrashed 4–0 by Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals and have managed just one win in their last five matches, leaving their top-four hopes in jeopardy.

Vitinha, recalling last year’s encounter, insisted PSG had learned valuable lessons. “We played well in Paris but still lost. We believed we could go to Anfield and win, and we did. But this is a different season and a different challenge.”

Liverpool will also welcome back former PSG forward Hugo Ekitike, now enjoying a prolific campaign and keen to impress against his former club.

PSG, meanwhile, are expected to be without Fabian Ruiz and Bradley Barcola through injury, though manager Luis Enrique remains confident in his squad depth.
