New executives of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Federal Government College, Enugu, have vowed to stop bullying of junior students by their senior ones in the school.
The chairman of the new executive in the school, Dr Chinedu Mbah, gave the assurance while speaking with journalists after the election.
Mbah polled 113 votes to defeat his closest rival, who scored 31 in the election witnessed by Federal Ministry of Education officials and the state government.
He declared zero tolerance for bullying of junior students by their seniors, stating that under his watch, such practice must stop.
” Under my watch, bullying will be zero percent. You know some senior students bully junior ones, and many parents are unhappy about that. Because such a thing is happening here, it makes some parents pull out their child, and so we will make sure that no child will bully another child,” he stated.
Mbah said his executive will set up a reconciliation committee before they kick off to nip the crisis in the bud.
The committee, he explained, will be saddled with the responsibility of reconciling aggrieved parties.
He promised to work with every association member and appealed to all parents to support them and enable them to succeed.
He assured the school management that his executive would give them the needed support, noting that since the parents have given them the mandate, they will unite everybody to recover the famous institution’s lost glory.
