The executive secretary of the pension transitional arrangement directorate, PTAD, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, has urged all pensioners to embrace the newly introduced validation process known as “I Am Alive Confirmation”, stating that the innovation was aimed at ending the nightmare pensioners experience in validating their status.
Ejikeme who spoke yesterday at a two-day stakeholders’ engagement forum for pensioners in the South East zone stated that validation of status had been automated, and the process offered retirees residing overseas, especially in the United States of America, Canada and UK to validate their status.
She added that in addition to eliminating the earlier challenges where pensioners had to travel far distances to undergo validation exercises, “I Am Alive Confirmation” could be done by a pensioner right in his or her house using a smart phone or walking to a nearby cyber cafe to do the validation on the PTAD dedicated website, adding that it would also help to eliminate pension fraud whereby a dead pension would continue to be paid pension when the relations refuse to inform the directorate of their demise.
She expressed the confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would continue to make pension payment a top priority in his administration, given his well-known and commendable antecedents in pension matters to ensure that senior citizens’ welfare was taken care of.
She stated that her directorate had already started witnessing success with the continued prompt payment of monthly pensions to pensioners.
