The director of Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto, Professor Abubakar Mohammed Yalwa said they were very impressed with the level of preparedness put in place by the Yobe State government on the hosting of the 38th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition holding in Damaturu the state capital.
Prof. Yalwa who stated this while speaking to newsmen in Damaturu said the national organizers were happy with the fascinating arrangements put in place by the state organising committee and sub-committees towards the success of the competition.
The director disclosed that the center has through the foundation been organising the competition since 1986 but the continuous improvement on the organization of the event from state to state remained a source of pride to the national organising committee.
“As far as the 38th edition which we are witnessing, we’ve seen seriousness and commitments from His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State in terms of all the obligations attached with the hosting of the competition.
“By the time we came earlier for the inspection of the venues and facilities we advised the local organising committee on some issues to improve on their services for hosting the competition.
“When we came the day before yesterday, we were heartily impressed; we have seen things done even beyond what we have advised. This is a very excellent organisation and execution of whatever is required for the organisation and conduct of the competition,” Yalwa stated.
Also, the National Coordinator of the competition, Prof. Mohammad Mansur Ibrahim Sokoto, commended the Yobe State government for injecting ideas that facilitated in the organisation of the competition effectively.
“First and foremost, let me commend the Yobe State government under the able leadership of His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni for unprecedented arrangements on this year’s Qur’anic competition which impresses all of us.
“We pray to Almighty Allah to help and guide the governor and the entire people of Yobe State for these noble efforts towards the successful hosting of the 38th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition taking place in Damaturu the state capital.
“May I at this juncture call on all and sundry to hasten more efforts in guiding the wards and children on the memorization of the glorious holy Qur’an at all times.”
