Radda Challenges Opposition To Present Better Alternatives

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has challenged opposition political parties to present clear and practical alternatives to the people, asking them to explain what they would do differently if entrusted with power in the 2027 elections.

Explaining that opposition parties who thought APC has not done enough in tackling insecurity and hardship in the state and country at large, should tell people what better strategies they can offer instead criticisms.

Radda threw the challenge on Thursday at the Ameera Events Centre, Katsina, during a special prayer session organised by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation and the Maituraka Foundation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor’s administration.

Addressing supporters and members of the Darika Sect, who endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Radda for a second term, the governor said his administration was ready to be judged on its performance, campaign promises and measurable impact on the lives of citizens.

He stressed that elections should be decided based on achievements and development records rather than political sentiments, urging voters to critically assess what each political party offers.

“We will continue to present our scorecard to the people. Citizens should examine what we promised, what we have achieved and what remains to be done. Those seeking leadership should also tell the people what they can do differently if given the mandate,” the governor said.

Radda described leadership as a sacred trust bestowed by the people through the ballot box, noting that elected officials must remain accountable to those who entrusted them with power.

Recalling the 2023 governorship election, the governor said the 859,892 votes he received reflected the confidence of the electorate in the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that his administration remained committed to justifying that confidence through service delivery.

He also highlighted the benefits of collaboration between the Katsina State Government and the Federal Government under President Tinubu, saying the partnership had facilitated the implementation of key development programmes across the state.

The governor further urged residents to support security agencies with credible information, noting that community cooperation remained critical to addressing insecurity. He also called for sustained prayers for peace and stability, describing security as the foundation for development.

Earlier, former Governor Aminu Bello Masari called on scholars, community leaders and people of integrity to actively participate in politics, arguing that their involvement would help strengthen governance and produce responsible leadership.

The event also featured the empowerment of 500 women by the Maituraka Foundation.

Speaking at the gathering, Sheikh Nasiru Dahiru Usman Bauchi commended Governor Radda’s investments in education, youth development and empowerment programmes, particularly scholarships for Qur’anic memorisers pursuing health-related courses.

Chairman of the Maituraka Foundation, Abdulaziz Maituraka, reaffirmed the foundation’s support for the Katsina State Government and the APC, pledging continued interventions aimed at improving the welfare of women, youths and vulnerable groups.

The programme was attended by top government officials, APC stakeholders, traditional and religious leaders, and members of the Darika Sect, who offered prayers for the success of the Tinubu and Radda administrations.
