Katsina State Governor, Umaru Dikko Radda, has empowered over 900 adolescent girls who graduated from Skill Acquisition Centres across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the development of the girl child and inclusive growth.

The governor stated this while speaking at the graduation and empowerment ceremony for beneficiaries from Skill Acquisition Centres in Katsina, Kaita, Funtua, Matazu, Charanchi, Dutsi, Baure, Kurfi, and Mani Local Government Areas.

He described the occasion as more than a graduation, noting that it symbolised hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for Katsina State.

Governor Radda said his administration deliberately prioritised investment in children, especially the girl child, stressing that empowering girls is both a social responsibility and a strategic investment for sustainable development.

According to him, no child should be denied education, skills, or opportunity due to background or circumstance.

He explained that the Skill Acquisition Centres were established and strengthened to equip girls with practical skills that promote self-reliance, dignity of labour, and economic independence.

To ensure immediate productivity, the governor said the graduates were presented with certificates and empowerment kits, describing the initiative as intentional and impact-driven.

“Training without tools limits impact. We want our girls to leave here prepared, confident, and equipped to begin their journey immediately,” Radda said.

The governor urged the graduates to use the empowerment kits responsibly and creatively, adding that they should serve as a foundation for sustainable livelihoods and a source of pride to their families and communities.

He also announced a strategic partnership between the Katsina State Government and a private company, Greenhouse, facilitated by the Department of Girls’ Child Education and Child Development.

Through the partnership, Greenhouse company has committed to recruiting 300 graduates into various trades, providing them with advanced internship opportunities and practical work experience.

Governor Radda commended the Special Adviser and the entire Department of Girls’ Child Education and Child Development for their dedication and innovation in delivering impactful programmes that translate policy into measurable outcomes.

He also thanked parents and guardians for supporting their daughters.

While appreciating development partners and instructors for their commitment, the governor described the graduates as the pride of Katsina State and ambassadors of a brighter future.
