A heavy rain yesterday destroyed many goods at the Jalingo Main Market in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
It lasted for about 30 minutes and disrupted commercial activities within the period.
Our correspondent observed that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages must have caused the flood.
Heaps of refuse were seen by the road side within the market and on drainages, hindering free flow of water to the right channels.
The rain flooded shops, mostly by the roadside and destroyed many goods.
Executive Secretary of Taraba State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Exhuseh Audu, sent a team to assess the situation and to evacuate affected goods.
He urged shop owners to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately to avoid such occurrences.
