To uplift and improve the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children in this Holy Month of Ramadan, the Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA) has distributed foodstuffs and clothing materials to about 501 vulnerable children.

LEADERSHIP reports that the beneficiaries were drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state. They were selected for the intervention to reduce the socioeconomic hardship after the passing away of their parents and guardians.

Similarly, the initiative was part of the agency’s efforts to support vulnerable children during the Ramadan fast.

The chairperson of BASOVCA, Hajia Yalwa Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, commended Bauchi State Civil servants for contributing from their salaries to fund the agency and its operations.

She noted that one percent of the salaries of state workers taken to fund BASOVCA has a huge multiplier effect on the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in Bauchi.
