The senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has distributed bags of rice to Muslim communities across the eight local government areas of the district as Ramadan palliative support.
The items were presented to representatives from the eight local government areas of the District during a brief ceremony, where the senator’s Special Adviser on Islamic Affairs, Ilyasu Musa, spoke on his behalf.
Musa said the gesture was part of the senator’s tradition of reaching out to constituents during major religious seasons to ease economic pressure, particularly during the fasting period and ahead of Sallah celebrations.
Special adviser, Media and Communications to the senator, Midat Joseph, in a statement said Katung noted that the donation reflects his inclusive leadership style, recalling that a similar intervention was extended to Christian communities during the Christmas season in December.
“This support is aimed at assisting families, especially the needy and vulnerable, during this important period. We appreciate the senator’s continued commitment to the welfare of his people,” Musa said.
Katung urged the Muslim committee representatives from the eight LGAs to ensure fair distribution of the rice to those who need it most and to use the period for prayers for peace, unity and progress in the senatorial district.
