The first Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal Dare, has distributed  Ramadan Welfare packages under Zakkat and Endowment Board to 16,000 Orphans and the less privileged across the 19 emirates of the state.

Speaking while flagging off the disbursement in the state capital, Gusau, Hajiya Dauda Lawal Dare said last year the board distributed a Welfare package to 6,000 Orphans across the state, but this year the government approved additional support for 16,000 Orphans and vulnerable persons across the 19 emirates in the state.

She urged the beneficiaries to utilise what they received in their daily livelihood and also to continue praying for lasting peace and stability in the state.

According to her, each beneficiary received 25 25-kilogram bags of rice, a wrapper for females, five yards of fabric (Shadda) for males, and a cash support of N 20,000.

Speaking during the occasion, Executive Chairman of the board, Ahmed ibn Sheikh Umar Kanoma, noted that the gesture was intended to alleviate hardship and bring happiness to the Orphans and the destitutes in the state during the Ramadan period.
