Raphinha Suffers World Cup Injury Blow, Set To Miss Scotland Clash

Brazil have been dealt a significant setback at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after winger Raphinha was diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right thigh.

Medical examinations carried out by Brazil’s team doctors confirmed the injury, raising concerns over the availability of one of the Seleção’s most influential attacking players during the tournament.

The Barcelona star will remain with the Brazilian squad and undergo intensive treatment in a bid to recover in time for the latter stages of the World Cup. Team officials are hopeful that the injury is not severe enough to end his participation in the competition, although no definitive timetable has been provided for his return.

The injury means Raphinha will miss Brazil’s upcoming Group C encounter against Scotland national football team, a match that could prove crucial in determining the group’s final standings.

His absence will be a major concern for Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has relied heavily on the winger’s pace, creativity and goal threat on the right flank. Raphinha has been one of Brazil’s standout performers over the past year and was expected to play a key role in the nation’s pursuit of a sixth World Cup title.

Brazil currently sit in a strong position in Group C following their 3-0 victory over Haiti, but the loss of Raphinha deprives them of one of their most dangerous attacking outlets ahead of the clash with Scotland.

The Brazilian medical team will monitor his progress closely over the coming days, with the focus now on ensuring he is fit enough to contribute should Brazil advance to the knockout rounds.

For now, however, the five-time world champions must prepare for Scotland without one of their biggest stars, hoping that the injury setback proves only a temporary obstacle in their World Cup campaign.
