Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has appeared as a guest on one of Nigeria’s online interview shows, drawing widespread reactions on social media.

Obasanjo featured on comedian and content creator Adebayo Ridwan, popularly called Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast on Saturday, in an unexpected appearance that generated excitement among viewers.

The moment that particularly caught attention came at the beginning of the episode, when Isbae U introduced the former president in his trademark sarcastic style, joking that Obasanjo was once his employee.

“Our guest today used to work for me for eight years. I paid his salary, I paid for his rent in Aso Rock, and I fed him from 1999 to 2007,” the host said, drawing amusement from the room.

He then called for “a round of applause for our president,” before cheekily adding that the former head of state should have asked for permission before reaching for the water.

The satirical introduction set the tone for what appeared to be an unconventional conversation between the veteran statesman and one of Nigeria’s prominent digital content creators.

The appearance quickly generated reactions online, with several viewers expressing surprise at how Isbae U managed to secure the former president as a guest.

One user, @Farmhouse, wrote, “Omo, you really have a brave heart to invite OBJ.”

Another user, @Mhix_k, asked, “Omor, how did he convince OBJ?”

@ADUNNI described the appearance as a major moment, writing, “How did he convince Ebora Owu? This is hugeeee.”

Another viewer, @Baba Smile, predicted, “I promise this will be his most viewed edition of the show!!!!!”

The appearance also prompted political jokes, with @smithh877 asking, “Please, when is Tinubu’s turn to come to Curiosity Made Me Ask?”

Reacting to the unexpected appearance, @Kamil wrote, “Fear even caught me immediately I saw who he was referring to.”

Similarly, @EEJ’s Glow World said, “The way I shouted Jesus as I saw His Excellency Obasanjo.”

For @softwithenny, the appearance was so unexpected that the user initially suspected it was artificial intelligence, writing, “At first, I thought it was AI until I started reading the comments.”
