After a tough year filled with injury setbacks, Nabil Fekir finally made his return to the pitch for Real Betis.
But his much anticipated comeback has been short-lived as a hip injury forced him off the field in his first start in over nine months.
He made his return to action earlier this month, coming on as a substitute against Mallorca. He made further appearances from the bench against Aris Limassol and Las Palmas, and against Sparta Prague on Thursday, he make his first start for Betis. But he only played the first 45 minutes of the match, which Betis went on to lose 1-0.
Estadio Deportivo reports that the reason for his substitution was caused by a hip injury that he picked up after receiving a blow from an opposition player’s knee.
Despite the setback, there is hope that Fekir’s match fitness is improving and that he will soon be back to full strength. For fans and teammates alike, the return of Fekir is a cause for some cautious optimism.
