Nigerian real estate entrepreneur and humanitarian, Hajiya Rakiatou Bagnou Beido, has been honoured as “Ijele Nwanyi” of African Culture at the 2023 Nollywood New Yam Festival in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The chief executive officer of Kiara Properties Ltd was recognised alongside other industry stakeholders and promoters of African culture and values at the closing ceremony of the 11th edition of the festival on Saturday in Abuja.

Others who received cultural titles at the event included Julie Chigozie Ugoagu, who received the title of “Odiukonamba 1” of African Culture.

Chief Agility Onwurah, national coordinator of the Festival and Chief Executive Officer of Agile 247.Com, organisers of the event, congratulated the awardees, adding that the honour was to celebrate their contribution to the industry.

“Nollywood promotes our culture, and anyone who has contributed to its growth and development, in whatever capacity, should be celebrated.

“The festival is simply a platform where celebrities identify with culture and promote it to their fans and followers that no matter the influence of westernisation, we must uphold what defines us,” he said.

In her remarks, Hajiya Beido expressed delight over the recognition and pledged her unrelenting commitment towards any initiative that promotes peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

She noted that the recognition was an indication that people were keenly watching one’s contribution to society, adding that the recognition was a major motivation, especially to her humanitarian initiatives.

“I feel very honoured today for this award, especially when the Igwe explained to me the essence of the title.

“Culture is very special because it is our identity and if someone from the North is honoured with a title from the South, it portraye our unity and will strengthen our peaceful coexistence,” she said.

Hajiya Rakiatou Bagnou Beido is the CEO of Kiara Properties Ltd, a premium real estate company with sheer expertise in property development, construction management, real estate investments and facility management.

She is the Vice President (North) for Asiwaju Women Cooperative Society (AWCS) and a passionate humanitarian, with a special interest in helping orphans and the less-privileged.
