Students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, have been advised to shun cultism and examination malpractices and study hard in order to graduate with certificates in character and learning.

This admonition was made by the acting rector of the polytechnic, Dr Ibeaja Uzoma while addressing the students at the 46th matriculation ceremony held at the Polytechnic Mini Stadium, Owerri, Imo State.

Dr Ibeaja advised the students to avoid cultism and its related activities, indecent dressing, cohabitation, examination malpractices and other anti-social conducts to enable them graduate in flying colours and make their parents, guardians and the Polytechnic proud.

“Your parents and guardians sent you here to graduate successfully as professionals in your various disciplines. To achieve that within minimum time span should be your primary aim and objective; every other pursuit is secondary. You fresh students must start from your very first lectures to show serious commitment to your studies. Do all assignments and tests. Don’t miss any classes and if you do, copy notes, revise the topics and avoid tutorials by students who may damage what your lecturers have taught you. Use the library judiciously and you will achieve success in your examinations,” the rector advised.

“By the authority vested on me as the acting rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, I receive you individually and collectively as bona fide students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri,” Ibeaja said.
