The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Dr Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku, has called on members of the institution’s community to embrace unity, spiritual renewal and peaceful coexistence as Muslims and Christians commence the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
In a goodwill message to staff and students, Ebeloku noted that both Ramadan and Lent, though observed differently, share enduring values that bind humanity together.
“My valued members of the Polytechnic Community, I welcome you all to the holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten season.
“This season signifies a period of total abstinence from vices, spiritual renewal and purification, peaceful coexistence as well as in-depth devotion to fasting and prayer, with the overall aim of embracing good neighbourliness and godliness,” he said.
According to him, Ramadan and Lent are profound seasons of faith, reflection, sacrifice and renewal.
“Though observed in different ways, both periods call for self-discipline, fasting and prayer, compassion, generosity and a deeper commitment to peace and humanity. This reminds us of the enduring values that bind us together.”
Addressing the Muslim faithful, the Rector prayed for strengthened faith and abundant blessings during the holy month.
“To the Muslim faithful, as you observe the holy month of Ramadan, may this sacred period strengthen your faith, purify your hearts and bring abundant blessings to you and your family,” he said.
He also encouraged Christian faithful embarking on the Lenten journey to use the period for deeper devotion and spiritual growth.
“In the same vein, to our Christian faithful, as you embark on the Lenten season, may this solemn period deepen your devotion and fill your hearts with hope and grace, as well as usher divine blessings to your household,” he added.
He further emphasised that the dual observance of Ramadan and Lent within the Polytechnic reflects the institution’s diversity and shared commitment to mutual respect.
Adding, he said, that this season, as an academic community built on diversity and mutual respect, offers us an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to peaceful coexistence, moral integrity, and collective progress.
He said, “Let us use this period to promote understanding, support one another and contribute positively to the growth and development of our institution and our dear nation.”
