Despite still recovering after undergoing a surgical procedure in a Nigerian hospital some weeks ago, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, yesterday morning joined virtually the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Statehouse, Abuja.
The vice president’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, confirmed this on his official Twitter handle.
“VP Osinbajo joins Federal Executive Council meeting this morning virtually. President Buhari is presiding,” Akande tweeted.
The vice president is still recuperating from the successful surgical operation of a right femur fracture at Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos on Saturday, July 16.
Osinbajo also spent at least seven days of post-surgery rehabitation at the hospital before he was discharged.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media have commended the vice president for showing dedication to national affairs despite still recovering from the surgical procedure.
While some expressed pleasant surprise that the Osinbajo was back to work after his surgery and recent discharge from hospital, others noted that his presence was greatly missed in the council because his ideas were crucial to moving the country forward.
Commenting on Twitter, one Nigerian noted that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s “desire to serve Nigerians is encouraging, even to the discouraged.”
“Nigerians progress is not negotiable. Your presence was greatly missed in the council because they needed your ideas to move forward,” Tamuno Tonye tweeted.
It would be recalled that a statement by the chief personal physician to the vice president, Dr Nicholas Audifferen on July 25 noted that Osinbajo was admitted to the Duchess International Hospital, Lagos, on Saturday, July 16, and had corrective surgery without any complications.
