Recycled Politicians Can’t Derail Tinubu’s Momentum – Adelakun

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Oyo State, Chief Kunle Adelakun, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) political coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He stated that the coalition leaders mismanaged the country when they were in office, adding that emergency alliances or recycled politicians cannot derail Tinubu’s momentum ahead of 2027.

Adelakun, son of the late Ibadan political strongman, Busari Adelakun, stated this during a media chat with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.

He said Nigerians would reject a group of “strange bedfellows” who, in his view, have never shown any goodwill towards the country.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently led an opposition coalition adopting ADC as their political platform.

Several opposition figures, mainly from PDP, Labour Party, and others, have since pledged their support for the coalition under ADC.

Adelakun, however, questioned the integrity of some leaders of the coalition, blaming them for Nigeria’s limited democratic advancement.

He criticised the ADC coalition for recycling failed political strategies and accused them of clinging to power at all costs.

“Nigerians have not forgotten. Even if we had amnesia, the effect has worn off,” Adelakun said while mocking the alliance.

“These are the same people who mismanaged the country for years and left Nigeria in disarray,” he added.

He argued that the coalition lacked the political strength and moral standing to rival Tinubu’s rising national popularity.

“At a time when Tinubu’s administration is reforming the nation, it’s sad that some choose to distract Nigerians with tired narratives,” Adelakun stated.

He praised Tinubu’s government for renewing hope in Nigeria’s development through deliberate and impactful policies.

He cited reforms like subsidy removal savings redirected to critical sectors, palliatives for states, and robust investments in food security.

Adelakun also listed the Tax Reform Bill, saying it would improve revenue collection, reduce waste, and strengthen infrastructure and social services.

“No emergency alliances or recycled politicians can derail Tinubu’s momentum. His achievements speak louder than any campaign,” he said.

He noted that those opposing Tinubu might return to the APC after failing again in the 2027 elections.

Adelakun commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for restoring order in Abuja and his steadfast loyalty to Tinubu’s leadership. (NAN)
