Rita Daniels, the mother of Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has publicly called out her billionaire son-in-law, Senator Ned Nwoko, accusing him of ordering the arrest of two of her children and exploiting her daughter’s fame, declaring, “Regina spent $50,000 on your campaign!”
Rita, in a video making the rounds on social media, accused the Delta North senator of “humiliating” her family and exploiting her daughter’s fame and finances.
According to her, Nwoko allegedly caused the arrest of Regina’s elder brother and sister after the actress refused to return to him or attend rehabilitation as he allegedly demanded.
LEADERSHIP recalls that in an earlier post, Regina Daniels had hinted at the family tension, claiming that her estranged husband was using his influence to intimidate her loved ones.
She lamented that she had endured several accusations, including being labelled a drug addict, but decided to speak up after the arrest of her siblings.
“I’ve tried to stay quiet even after he called me names, but ‘enough is enough’. Must things always go south when both partners are no longer interested?” the 24-year-old actress wrote.
In her emotional outburst, Rita Daniels alleged that Senator Nwoko leveraged Regina’s popularity to revive his own public image and political career.
In the video which was filmed at night amid tension, Rita Daniels further claimed that her daughter contributed significantly to her estranged husband’s 2023 senatorial campaign.
“Ned, which money do you have? Regina is the one covering you. When you were campaigning, Regina gave you a whopping $50,000 for your election. People call us gold diggers,” she fumed.
“You used Regina’s high star to boost your fallen star.”
The actress’s mother, visibly angered, also criticised Nwoko’s handling of his family, suggesting that his children “don’t look like the kids of a billionaire.”
Rita Daniels’ outburst is the latest escalation in a strained relationship between the Daniels family and the billionaire politician.
Although the couple’s marriage initially drew massive public attention due to their age difference, it has in recent months been trailed by reports of tension and separation.
Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly has yet to publicly respond to the latest allegations as of press time.
