The Nigeria Labour Party (LP) has called on the Senate to immediately reinstate Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the Kogi Central Senator.

The Interim National Publicity Secretary, Labour Party (LP), Prince Tony Akeni, in a statement released to newsmen yesterday in Abuja, said that Nigeria has received a letter from Hon. Fattoumatta Njai of Gambia, condemning the Nigerian Senate for its refusal to reinstate Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan despite a court judgment nullifying her suspension.

Akeni said, “The Labour Party has called for the immediate reinstatement of Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Senate and urges the Nigerian Senate to respect the court judgment and allow her to resume her duties without further delay.”

He emphasised the importance of upholding the rule of law, obeying court rulings, allowing all voices to be heard, and ensuring timely and impartial justice for all Nigerian citizens.

“The world’s perception of Nigeria’s judiciary is tarnished by political interference and inefficiency, as exemplified by Sen. Natasha’s debarment from the senate. The Nigerian government must address these issues and restore confidence in the judiciary.” he said.

Also, Former Appeal Court judge Justice Oludotun Adebola Adefope-Okojie and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo highlighted the negative impact of a dysfunctional judiciary on economic growth and investment, citing delays and corruption as factors that erode trust and drive investors away.
