Nigerian singer Divine Joshua Ikubor, known as ‘Rema’, has revealed why he ended a past relationship, because it was too draining for him emotionally.

Speaking during an interview with Korty EO, the award-winning singer said the relationship started on a positive note and brought him many happy memories. He described it as meaningful and said there were aspects of it he truly valued.

However, Rema explained that things later changed. According to him, the relationship became increasingly difficult, leaving him under emotional strain.

He said the pressure reached a point where walking away was the best decision for his well-being.

He said:

“My romantic relationship was beautiful but a little quite manipulative.”

Rema said life in the spotlight comes with constant pressure. Between his music career, public attention and industry demands, he expected home to be a place of peace.

However, he revealed that instead of finding comfort after work, he often returned to more stress and challenges.

Rema’s remarks resonated with many fans who said they understood the need for peace after dealing with pressure and challenges.

The singer revealed that he eventually reached a point where he felt he could not carry on the same way.
