First Lady, Remi Tinubu has said women are pivotal to the territorial integrity and peaceful coexistence of Africans.
She stated this when she hosted members of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) toa lunch in Abuja yesterday.
In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs Tinubu said the role of First Ladies of Africa should be that of giving leadership in critical areas such as child and family care.
She expressed optimism that OAFLAD as a platform, can do more to drive positive change on the continent.
“The passion we share for the wellbeing of our people will eventually help Africa to realize its full potential”.
The first ladies, who took turns to share their experiences, expressed a desire to push the frontiers of Pan Africanism and solidarity for the development of the continent.
During a guided tour the visiting first ladies were treated to some of the best of Nigeria’s cultural ambience. They all expressed their desire to visit Nigeria soon again.
Some of the first ladies have since returned to their home countries while others are waiting behind to participate in the forthcoming regional seminar on Promoting Cancer Awareness and Advocacy Programmes for the Member States of the Organisation Of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with the theme, “Innovative Approaches to Cancer Prevention and Early Treatment” holding in Abuja from today to Friday.
