A loyalist of President Bola Tinubu, Khamis Musa Darazo, has commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to empowering women, describing her initiatives as a catalyst for economic growth, family stability and national development.

Speaking with journalists in Bauchi yesterday, Darazo said the achievements of many Nigerian women have shown that genuine empowerment does not necessarily require huge capital, but rather determination, discipline and access to opportunities.

To illustrate the transformative impact of grassroots entrepreneurship, Darazo recounted the success story of an Abuja-based businesswoman, Asabe, whom he said built houses through proceeds from selling akara and akamu.

“I know a hardworking woman named Asabe in Abuja who built houses from the profits she earned selling akara and akamu.

“Her story is a powerful reminder that no legitimate business is too small to create wealth. With dedication, prudent management and consistency, ordinary businesses can produce extraordinary results,” he said.

According to him, Asabe’s remarkable journey reflects the untapped potential of millions of Nigerian women engaged in small-scale businesses across the country, whose daily efforts sustain families and contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.

Darazo said this underscores the importance of Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s women empowerment programmes, stressing that empowering women leads to stronger families, more resilient communities and a more prosperous Nigeria.

“The Nigerian woman is one of our greatest assets. When she is empowered, poverty declines, children receive better care and education, local businesses expand, and the economy grows. This is why the First Lady’s commitment to women deserves commendation and sustained support,” he stated.

He noted that despite prevailing economic challenges, Nigerian women continue to excel in agriculture, food processing, trading, tailoring and other small and medium-scale enterprises.

Darazo therefore called on governments at all levels, financial institutions, corporate organisations and development partners to complement the First Lady’s efforts by providing women entrepreneurs with affordable financing, vocational training, business mentorship and improved access to markets.

He also urged young Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurship with dignity, insisting that honest labour remains one of the most reliable paths to sustainable prosperity.

“There is honour in every legitimate business. The story of Asabe proves that success is not determined by where you start but by your determination, discipline and vision. We must celebrate and support hardworking Nigerians who are quietly transforming lives and building wealth through enterprise,” he added.

He further reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu for championing initiatives aimed at empowering women, reducing poverty, promoting self-reliance and strengthening Nigeria’s economic future.
