Nasarawa State governor and chairman of the North Central Governors Forum, Abdullahi Sule and other members of the federal government’s delegation are expected to visit China on Monday.

The visit is part of the country’s energy transition initiative – a shift towards more sustainable and cleaner energy sources.

According to experts, Nigeria aimed to become carbon neutral by 2060, a transformation which will provide huge investment opportunities in areas such as solar energy, hydrogen, and electric vehicles.

A statement by the chief press secretary to the governor, Mr Ibrahim Addra said the presidential delegation is expected to visit major Chinese industries on a tour of renewable energy technology manufacturing facilities.

“The visit is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of actualising Nigeria’s Green Industrial Revolution; the centerpiece of which is the siting of Nigeria’s first Green Industrial Zone, Evergreen City, in Nasarawa State.

“Engr. Abdullahi Sule’s inclusion in the team and Nasarawa State’s choice to host Africa’s first-ever eco-industrial park is yet another pointer to the state’s steady progress and the enviable position attained under Governor Sule’s unparalleled stewardship,” Mr Addra said.

Early in July, the Special Climate Envoy of President Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, said as part of efforts aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s green industrial drive met with the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Shri Balasubramanian at the State House.

Mr Ngelale explained that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss in detail the new green industrial partnership opportunities with the administration of H.E. Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said he also exchanged views after the Federal Executive Council meeting with Governor Sule on the establishment of Africa’s first Eco-industrial park, Evergreen City.
