The member representing Akwanga/Nassarawa-Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Jeremiah Umaru (APC) has empowered over 100 widows and other vulnerable women with different entrepreneurship skills to be self reliant in Nasarawa State.
Speaking at the event yesterday in Akwanga local government area, the lawmaker said the gesture was aimed at enhancing the economic well-being of the beneficiaries to enable them contribute their quota to the development of the state and the country.
Represented by his wife, Sarah Jeremiah, the lawmaker said the women were carefully selected from all 35 electoral wards, regardless of their religious, tribal, or political affiliations.
Umaru noted that the training, which include soap making, baking, and cake production, was designed to provide the women with marketable skills, startup kits, and support to establish or improve their businesses.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the knowledge gained to set up businesses and improve their lives and be self-reliant.
He promised to extend the training to more women in the constituency and encouraged the community to support the beneficiaries by patronizing their products.
