The House of Representatives has donated N100 million to support victims of the recent flood disasters in Borno State who have been thrown into untold hardship.
On Tuesday, a special House delegation led by the Northern Regional Caucus Chairman, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa, donated to Maiduguri, the state capital.
The lawmakers in the northeastern state met with Governor Umara Babagana Zulum to sympathise and commiserate with the Government and people of Borno over the unfortunate incident.
Doguwa, a former House Leader, donated on behalf of the Speaker, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and all the members of the Green Chamber.
Addressing reporters at the Government House in Maiduguri, the lawmaker commended President Bola Tinubu for his prompt and swift response to the plight of the people of Borno state.
He thanked him for pledging the federal government’s support to the state government and the affected victims.
“We also pledge the National Assembly’s readiness to liaise with the Federal Government to come up with a legislative framework or any possible budgetary intervention to help state governments address the impacts of flood disaster in the country,” Doguwa said.
