LEADERSHIP reports that in November 2023, Soro distributed free fertilisers to dry-season farmers. About 2000 farmers around Bula irrigation farmlands of Gabarin ward, Darazo, benefitted.

To consolidate the gains, the lawmakers distributed 2,566 bags of free NPK fertiliser (15-15-15) to dry-season farmers in the constituency.

Before the distribution, farmers were enumerated in clusters conducted across the 17 wards of the constituency where irrigation farmlands are cultivated.

Speaking, Soro said, “The agricultural intervention is independent of the rainy season support we institutionalised in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency on an annual basis, in which an estimated 15,000 bags of fertilizers, tractors, and other farm implements were shared with farmers free of charge.”

The first batch of 150 luminous solar street lights (Wakatec brand of 100watts) was also launched, and they will be installed at 150 targeted Tsangaya schools.

To him, “Our resolve to prioritise public places for solar installation lies in the need to ensure maximum resource use for the greater number of our constituents.”

“None of our solar lights should be installed in a private space. 2nd batch of the installation of 128 units of solar lights due middle of January 2025,” he stressed.

Soro called on the beneficiaries, comprising farmers and Tsangaya schools, to use the interventions well.

Some beneficiaries commended the Federal Lawmaker for the gesture, which they said would further augment what they could do during the last rainy season.

They also believed it would boost food production and ensure availability in the area and Bauchi State.
