Followong Governor Seyi Makinde’s intervention, the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital branch, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has suspended its two-month indefinite strike.

The suspension of the strike action was announced in a letter dated October 1, 2025, and addressed to the Chief Medical Director of the tertiary health facility, Prof. Olakulehin Olawale.

The strike, which began on July 29, had crippled clinical services at the teaching hospital, forcing patients in Ogbomoso and nearby towns to seek medical care elsewhere.

The letter, signed by NARD President, Dr. Adedokun Stephen, and General Secretary, Dr. Mustapha Adedapo, said the decision followed Governor Makinde’s visit to the hospital on Tuesday, September 30, where he gave assurances of government’s commitment to meeting their demands.

“On behalf of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, we write to formally notify the hospital management of the suspension of our two-month industrial action following an Emergency General Meeting (EGM) of the congress on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

“This decision was reached in honour of the visit of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Executive Governor of Oyo State, to our institution on September 30, 2025, and in recognition of his sincere commitment to resolving the longstanding demands of our association.

The resident doctors said they would resume full clinical services by 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, while urging the State government to sustain its commitment to repositioning LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
