Dr. David Love, widower of the late special adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, Mrs Shimite Love, has been undergoing triple agony.
The first stigma was the wrongful accusations over his wife’s death, releasing her body for burial without his consent and the pain of being separated from his daughter.
Love, while reading from a statement tagged “Concrete Truth about the Death of my Precious Wife, Mrs Shimite Winifred Love,” appealed to the state government to intervene and ensure the release of his four-year-old daughter, Sheila Obiajulu Uyor Oluwashayo, from the custody of his in-laws.
He lamented enduring wrongful accusations over his wife’s death and the pain of being separated from his daughter.
Love, who said he was also assaulted by some in-laws and detained for five days by the IGP Monitoring Team, maintained that his late wife’s phone and the custody of his daughter must be returned to him.
“I am also calling on the Inspector General of Police to instruct the Monitoring Unit to release my late wife’s phone, which is in their custody, to me. My lawyers have applied twice to release the phone, but the IGP Monitoring Team refused.”
Beyond the allegations and police investigations, Love stressed that his greatest plea was to be reunited with his daughter.
“I am also begging the Delta State government to order my in-laws to release my four-year-old daughter, Sheila Obiajulu Uyor Oluwashayo, who, he alleged, is in their care, to me.”
Love insisted that autopsy and toxicology reports had cleared him of allegations of assault, poisoning, or strangulation, showing instead that his wife died from complications of long-term hypertension.
But he maintained that some family members had subjected him to public attacks despite these findings. At the same time, the IGP Monitoring Unit allegedly acted unlawfully by releasing his wife’s body for burial without his consent.
“The IGP should, as a matter of fact, carry out disciplinary actions against the Monitoring Unit for illegally ordering the release of my late wife’s corpse to the wrong persons, an action above the police jurisdiction (we have the letter sent to the hospital),” he posited.
