The Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna has laid Rev. Fr. John Danjuma Abashiya to rest amid tributes.

Abashiya, who died on June 20, after a protracted illness at the National Hospital Abuja, was buried at the Priest Cemetery, Kaduna, yesterday.

He was aged 63.

During his homily, the vicar-general, Pakshin Diocese, Plateau State, Very Rev. Fr. Paul Wase described the late Abashiya as an icon of hope.

He said the “late Fr. Abashiya made people feel loved and appreciated, he fought a good fight.

“Life is a journey from birth to death, our promised land is not on earth but in heaven. Fr. John has gone to heaven, the journey in the Old Testament is a symbol of our hope to God as we go through this life”.

Fr. Wase lamented the incessant killings of human lives in the country, saying that Nigerians should stop killing each other.

According to him, as human beings we must be conscious of death because nobody knows the time or the hour of death.
