Some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State have called on President Bola Tinubu and the national chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullah Ganduje, to urgently review the reward system for loyal party members.

The party members under the umbrella of All Progressives Congress Concerned Group further recalled party faithful’s contribution to APC before, during and after the 2023 general election, especially the votes given by the state, which led to President Tinubu’s victory at the poll.

In a statement signed by Comrade Abdullahi Dauda Little on behalf of the group, they also called for the reorganisation of the party in Bauchi State, even if it means the setting up of a caretaker committee.

The statement reads in part: “We have gone through all this history to buttress the point that we members and supporters of the APC in Bauchi State feel cheated because the party’s reward system had failed us.

“So many appointments have been made at the Federal level but those who sacrificed everything for the party have been left out. Even when Mr. President came to make a few appointments from Bauchi, he picked people who worked against the APC during the last election.

“One is tempted at this point to suspect that the party has made a deal with the opposition to sacrifice Bauchi State. Unless that is the case, we expect that the president and our party leaders should show more interest in the growth of the party in the state.

“Right now, we don’t have a leadership that is interested in reclaiming our stolen governorship mandate, we are on appeal but no support has been shown to us from Abuja.

“It appears that our party had not learnt any lesson from the mistakes of  the past eight years when people who don’t share the progressive vision of the APC were given big responsibilities and they disappointed the party and Nigerians. With what we are seeing today, history is about to repeat itself.

“As committed members of this party we want to recommend immediate steps that must be taken to redeem the situation. First and foremost, we demand for a reorganization of the party structure in Bauchi even if it means having a caretaker committee with competent and responsible leaders.

“It is also advisable for Mr. President to find accommodation for those who genuinely worked for him and the party during the last election this is the only way to sustain loyalty.

“Our party must review the reward system to first reward those who have been loyal and have worked for the success of the party before others. We believe there are competent people among us who have the necessary qualifications.”
