American rap mogul and Maybach Music Group (MMG) boss, Rick Ross, has expressed admiration for Nigerian music legends, naming Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy as artistes he would love to collaborate with.

Ross made the revelation during a recent livestream.

The “Hustlin’” rapper said a potential record that brings together his sound with the influence of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, Burna Boy, and reggae legend Bob Marley would represent a “king-level” musical achievement.

“If I had a dream collaboration right now, it would be Rick Ross, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti and Burna Boy. Imagine such a record. To me, that’s king-level. That’s next level,” he said during the livestream.

The American rapper noted that blending Jamaican reggae and Nigerian Afrobeat could create a unique musical experience that resonates with global audiences.

Ross also paid tribute to Nigerian-British singer Sade Adu, describing the reclusive “Smooth Operator” star as another artist he would like to work with.

“I am the boss, but I don’t know if I could get Sade to collaborate with me. I will put that on the wish list. I love Sade. Salute, Queen,” he added.

LEADERSHIP reports that Ross has consistently shown interest in African music and culture, particularly Nigeria’s growing influence on the global music scene.

The rapper’s comments come at a time when Afrobeats continues to gain international recognition, with artists such as Burna Boy, Tems and Wizkid achieving significant milestones on global music charts.
