Rivers Monarch, 50 Others Remanded Over Slain DPO

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the traditional ruler of Igbu-Akoh kingdom Ahoada-East local government area of the state, Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi and over 50 others to the Port Harcourt Maximum Correctional Centre, over the murder of the former Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ahoada Police Division, Bako Angbashim.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the defendants were charge with different charge of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, cultism, kidnapping among others.

When the case was called, counsel to the first and other defendants, Uchechukwu Igbegiri, urged the court to grant bail to the defendants

But, prosecuting counsel, SP Enyiyepere Sikpi, opposed to the bail, noting that the nature of the charge is to grievous for such oral order.

In his ruling, the trial judge, Justice Sika Henry Apirioku, ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Port Harcourt correctional centre and adjourned the case to November 21, 2023 for plea and bail consideration.
