United States President Donald Trump has sparked outrage after claiming that the recent deaths of renowned Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were caused by what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS).
Trump stated this on his Truth Social platform, suggesting that Reiner’s death resulted from “the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction” known as TDS.
“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump,” the president said.
“With his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before,” he added.
“May Rob and Michele rest in peace!” Trump concluded.
Rob Reiner, celebrated for directing The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, and A Few Good Men, was a vocal critic of Donald Trump, making him one of the president’s most prominent detractors.
In response to Trump’s comments, former First Lady Michelle Obama defended the Reiners during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“Let me just say this: unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever wanna know. They are not deranged or crazed; what they have always been are passionate people.
“In a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on, they were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about. And they cared about their family, and they cared about this country, and they cared about fairness and equity. And that is the truth; I do know them,” Michelle said.
The Reiners were found dead in their Los Angeles home under tragic circumstances, and their son has been arrested in connection with the incident.
