Rotary Club of Abuja Capital has promised to renovate schools in an adopted rural community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to make the school comfortable for students.

President of Rotary Club Abuja Capital, Rotarian Ledum Borr, made this known during a medical outreach programme organised by the club in Dawaki communities, where over 4000 residents of the community benefited from the outreach.

According to Borr, the club is going to commence the renovation process by first renovating three blocks of classrooms in the Local Education Authority Primary School in Dawaki community in November 2022.

“This is an opportunity we have to give back to society. In October to mark our Rotary Family Health Day, we organised medical services to take care of the medical bills of the people in Dawaki which is our adopted community.

“Close to 5,000 population in this community have benefited from the medical outreach, because the demography of the community is over 2000 children, and over 3000 adults. Every month we have a project for our adopted communities.

“Last month we did what we called back to school project, where we distributed basic education materials, ranging from notebooks, textbooks, school bags, school uniforms, and even chairs and desks to students,” he said.

Also, the Dawaki youth leader, Haruna Yakubu, while commending the Rotary Club for the free medical services in the community, said that many of the residents could not afford medical bills, but the club has alleviated their health challenges through the free medical outreach.

“This is the third time they were benefiting from the club. They have this community at heart. First of all, they renovated four toilets in Dawaki LEA primary school, they also distributed basic school materials to the students of the school, while they distributed sanitary pads to all the mature female students,” he said.
