In a bid to end open defecation by 2025 as stipulated by the Federal Government, the Rotary Club Of Omole Golden on Saturday said it has embarked on advocacy and fund raising to provide ultra-modern toilets at major markets and parks in the state.
The club revealed this at the investiture and fund raising ceremony of Rotarian Ganiu Lawal as the 19th President of the Rotary Club of Omole Golden held in Lagos.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ganiu Lawal said the club has also embarked on the rehabilitation of a block of four classrooms with collapsible demarcation to serve as classrooms and examination hall at Ajuwon Senior High School, saying it would cost over N10 million to complete the project.
According to him, the club decided to take up the challenge of providing the facilities, since it was becoming increasingly obvious that the existing ones could no longer enhance teaching and learning in the school, as they were in deplorable conditions.
He said,’’ We want well –meaning individuals, corporate organisations to support our proposed project for 2022-2023 Rotary year, we are equipping the Rotary Club of Omole Golden Neonatal Building at Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital at N24,755,000. Provision of ultra- modern public toilets at major markets and motor parks at N8,700,000.
‘’ Provision of mathematics laboratory at Oke-Ira Junior Grammar School , Ogba at N500,000. Promotion of menstrual hygiene and procurement of 3,000 dignity kits for girls in three public schools at N2,400,000.’’
Earlier, the outgoing president of the club, Favour Madu said the club had before now completed the beautification, landscaping of the triangle at Isheri-Olowora junction leading to Berger-Ibadan expressway and we built a giant rotary wheel cenotaph with 4-way test inscription and it was strategically mounted to create increased visibility for our great organisation.’’
In the area of basic education and literacy, Madu said the club renovated Biology and Physics laboratories at Ajuwon Senior High School and equipped the Biology and Physics laboratories at Ajuwon Senior High School.
‘’The principal gladly informed us that this has greatly improved the student’s performance in their WASSCE result
‘’On empowering the girl-child we distributed sanitary pads to 300 girls in Ajuwon High School this project was sponsored by Hayat Kimya Nigeria makers of mopled sanitary pad.’’
