The Rotary Club of Abuja Lugbe FHA Estate and Webmark Empowerment Foundation have collaborated to launch a Tree Planting Project at Dafara Community in Kuje Area Council.
The president of Webmark Foundation, Engr. Tunmise Adepoju, who highlighted their positive relationship with the community, donated 100 trees to the community.
He explained that “this endeavor aimed to replace, enhance and preserve the environment due to their history of cordial interactions.
“This initiative signifies just the beginning of Webmark Foundation’s commitment. After planting 40 trees in Karshi community and 30 in Gurku community, they have planted 100 more in Dafara community. They have embraced Dafara as their own and have planned a variety of projects beyond tree planting, including Solar Powered Street Lights, a Solar Powered Borehole, Health Center Renovation, Rural Health Outreaches, and Education/Literacy and Skill Acquisition Programs.
The president of the Rotary Club, Rotarian Adetundun Ayeni expressed gratitude for the partnership and emphasised the global importance of tree planting for pollution control and fresh air.
She said tree planting is a project recognised worldwide in other to fight against pollution and for free fresh for all.
She said the Rotary International will also look into the renovation project of the health centre in Dafara community and see how the organisation can work hand in hand with Webmark Foundation in making the renovation work a reality.
In closing, the Webmark Foundation’s Programme coordinator, Mrs. Ugochinyere Alukwe, extended appreciation to the Rotary Club team, including Polio chairperson, Rotarian Dorothy Ossai, Public Image chairman Rotarian ‘Bosun Gbiye and Rotarian Gbemisola Adeniyi.
