Residents of Kurunduma Rugan Fulani community in Asokoro, Abuja, have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing demolition of houses by the FCT Development Control Department.
Some of the affected residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the demolition had left them displaced and urged the President to halt the exercise on humanitarian grounds.
According to them, they and their children have been left without a place to stay following the demolition.
“We appeal to Mr. President to please intervene and call the FCTA authorities to order in the interest of humanity. Many of us and our children now have no place to stay,” one of the residents said.
They appealed for urgent intervention to address their displacement and provide relief to affected families.
Reacting to the demolition exercise, a non-governmental organisation, the Global Information Team, through its Head of Investigation, Anabel Crown, joined the affected victims in imploring President Bola Tinubu to order the halting of the exercise.
She said the demolition was coming at a difficult time for many families and appealed for intervention to address the situation.
