The ceremony, held Monday evening at the official residence of the Governor General in Castries, formed part of President Tinubu’s state visit to the Caribbean nation.

The honour marked a historic moment as Saint Lucia formally acknowledged Tinubu’s efforts in promoting global South solidarity and deepening cooperation across education, trade, and development.

According to a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, the decision to bestow the award on Tinubu reflects “Saint Lucia’s appreciation for President Tinubu’s commitment to fostering cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.”
