Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has directed the immediate payment of March salaries to all civil servants across the state to enable them to prepare for the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations with their families.
The State Head of Service, Barr. Sani Umar disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday in Bauchi, where he provided updates on workers’ welfare and the progress of the recruitment process.
He explained that the payment process commenced on March 16 and assured that all civil servants in the state would receive their salaries before the end of the day.
According to him, the governor has consistently prioritised the welfare of workers, particularly during festive periods, noting that the early payment would provide relief to families and stimulate economic activities across the state.
“Workers will now have the resources to purchase food items, clothing and gifts for their families and loved ones as they prepare for the Sallah festivities,” he said.
Providing updates on the recruitment exercise, the Head of Service stated that the process had reached its concluding phase, with interviews currently underway across most of the 18 participating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He said he personally monitored the exercise at several institutions, including the Civil Service Commission, the Teachers Service Commission, the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Housing and Environment, the Sharia Commission, and Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.
Umar commended members of the interview panels for their professionalism and also praised candidates for the orderly manner in which they conducted themselves during the exercise.
He explained that after the completion of the interviews, the respective MDAs and service commissions would submit the lists of successful candidates, after which appointment letters would be uploaded digitally for candidates to access and print.
The Head of Service also warned applicants against paying money to secure employment, noting that security agencies had already arrested some individuals involved in recruitment fraud.
He stressed that anyone found collecting or offering money in exchange for employment would face prosecution and automatic disqualification.
Umar also appreciated members of the media for their role in informing the public and promoting transparency in the recruitment process.
