Ahead of Eid-el- Kabir celebration, the Kwara State government has called on transporters to avoid reckless driving to ensure the safety of commuters.

The government also cautioned the transporters and residents against any act that could hinder peaceful celebrations.

Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Hon. Lafia Korasabi, in a statement on Tuesday, advised transporters to promote the culture of responsible driving and avoid incidence of road accidents before, during and after the celebration.

Noting that the state government places high premium on the safety of residents, Korasabi enjoined transporters to complement the government efforts by obeying traffic rules and regulations.

He warned against overloading, over speeding, use of vehicles without adequate road worthiness, among other traffic violations, which sometimes cause road crashes.

The Commissioner further assured that the ministry’s traffic management agents will be on guard at strategic points to ensure free vehicular movement during the celebration.
