Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has extended warm felicitations to residents, particularly the Muslim faithful, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, calling for sustained peace and unity as political activities for the 2027 general elections are set to commence.

The minister in his Sallah message, congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the holy month as a period of spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection, and renewal.

“As we celebrate Eid Fitr, the culmination of the Ramadan fast, I urge you all to carry forward the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity that Ramadan embodies.

“This occasion also offers us unique opportunity to pray for our leaders, and indeed, our country Nigeria, that we may continue to enjoy peace and progress,” he said.

Wike praised the conduct of residents during Ramadan, noting that the spirit of sharing and caring had reinforced Abuja’s status as Nigeria’s Centre of Unity, Peace and Harmony.

With the nation’s political landscape poised to become active ahead of the 2027 polls, the minister addressed the expected influx of political activities into the capital.

“In the coming weeks, campaigns are expected to begin nationwide ahead of Nigeria’s general elections in 2027. Being the Centre of Government, the FCT would witness a beehive of activities around this period.

“Be assured that the FCT Administration will continue to provide an environment conducive for the orderly hosting of all political events preceding and relating to the general elections.

“I urge all residents regardless of political affiliation, gender or tribe to take a cue from the Muslim Ummah, and maintain peaceful conduct throughout the year while praying for the FCT, and the nation as a whole at this period,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, crediting the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda for uplifting the socioeconomic fortunes of residents of the FCT and bolstered security in the nation’s capital.

On security, the minister said that the security agencies are working round the clock to ensure that residents celebrate and enjoy the occasion in peace, tranquility and orderliness, urging them to go about their activities without fear or trepidation.

“The FCT Administration remains committed to securing lives and property, and developing the FCT into a world-class city.

“May Allah accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds, and grant us a blessed Eid. May we emerge stronger, more united, and more determined to build a prosperous FCT. Happy Eid Fitr!” he said.
