The Yobe State Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, has hailed citizens of the state for their continued support to the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, urging them to sustain peace, vigilance and unity during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

A statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Hussaini Mai Suleh said Gubana made the call on Friday after joining hundreds of Muslim faithful at the Yobe Mosque and Islamic Centre eid ground for the two raka’at Eid-el-Fitr prayers.

The Eid prayer was led by the Chief Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Hudu Mohammed Yusuf, who delivered a sermon emphasising the importance of brotherhood, peaceful coexistence and adherence to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The Deputy Governor commended the people of the state for their unflinching support to the present administration, noting that such cooperation has continued to contribute to the stability and development of Yobe State.

He urged residents not to relent in promoting peace and harmony, stressing the need for collective responsibility in maintaining security across communities.

Gubana also called on the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies, especially during and after the festive period.

He further appealed to citizens to intensify prayers for sustained peace, unity and prosperity in the state and the country at large.

In his sermon shortly after the two raka’at prayers, the chief imam, Sheikh Hudu Mohammed Yusuf urged Muslims to emulate the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly by strengthening ties with family members, neighbours and friends.

The cleric also advised parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their children during the festivities to prevent involvement in social vices, while calling on the faithful to remain patient, respectful and law-abiding.
