Manchester United are edging closer to finding new homes for unwanted wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is considering a move to Serie A, according to The Manchester Evening News, after Chelsea opted against signing him permanently following an unsatisfactory season on loan at Stamford Bridge.

Antony, meanwhile, is reported to be ready to accept a 30 percent pay cut in order to move away from United following his exceptional spell on loan at Real Betis.

According to the MEN, United must sell the Brazilian for a minimum of £32.58m to avoid making a loss on the deal the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Napoli and Juventus are the two Serie A clubs who have shown the most interest in Sancho, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio. Napoli has proved a popular destination for United outcasts lately, with Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku firing Antonio Conte’s side to the title last season.

Sancho moved to United from Borussia Dortmund for £74 million ($99m) in the summer of 2021 but the move has been an unmitigated disaster. The winger failed to impress in his first two campaigns and his third season effectively ended after a couple of his weeks after a furious spat with Erik ten Hag.

He had an encouraging spell on loan back at Dortmund, helping them reach the Champions League final. However, his return to the Premier League did not go to plan, with Chelsea so reluctant to sign him permanently that they paid United £5m to get out of their obligation to buy him.

Antony cost even more than Sancho, becoming United’s second most expensive signing ever when he joined from Ajax for £85m. He left the club in January having scored only five Premier League goals in two-and-a-half seasons. He scored as many goals in half a season with Betis.

United must sell Sancho and Antony in order to help finance their ambitious squad rebuild after finishing 15th in the Premier League last season. The club are also looking to sell Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho after both players fell out with Ruben Amorim.

Matheus Cunha became the Red Devils’ first signing of the summer earlier this month while the club are working on a deal to bring in Bryan Mbeumo and they are monitoring the situation of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
