Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised Guinness Nigeria for its significant contributions to national development and culture.
The commendation was made during the Premier League Trophy tour in Lagos as Guinness, a brand under Guinness Nigeria, wrapped up its highly successful Premier League Trophy Tour, creating memorable experiences for countless enthusiastic football fans across Nigeria.
The three-day tour, which took place in two key cities, was a significant celebration of the sport and Guinness Nigeria’s remarkable 75-year legacy of fostering boldness and community connections.
The tour kicked off in Enugu and concluded in Lagos, providing fans an exceptional opportunity to engage with the Premier League Trophy, a prestigious symbol of football excellence.
“It is terrific to see Lagos included in this historic tour. Guinness has been entwined with our narrative, from establishing the first brewery outside the UK to its impactful societal contributions over the decades.
“The presence of the actual Premier League Trophy in Lagos boosts our collective pride and enthusiasm, and it is gratifying to receive this gift from a celebrated 75-year-old institution like Guinness Nigeria. As residents of Lagos, we take pride in associating with a socially responsible organisation,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
Girish Sharma, managing director and CEO of Guinness Nigeria, reflected on the tour’s overall success, saying, “This experience has been extraordinary, not only for Guinness but every fan who participated. Football transcends mere competition; it fosters community and passion.
“Through this tour, we have empowered fans by placing them at the heart of the action. Nigeria is proud to be one of the world’s most passionate football nations, and we are honoured to have delivered this moment.”
