Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and local government autonomy
Sanwo-Olu who spoke while commissioning a series of landmark projects in Agboyi-Ketu and Bariga local council development areas (LCDAs) on Friday, praised the outgoing chairmen of both LCDAs, attributing the successful completion of numerous infrastructure and social projects to the full autonomy enjoyed by local governments under his leadership.
“These achievements we are witnessing today are the dividends of true autonomy, a principle we have fully embraced in Lagos under the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the governor said.
In Agboyi-Ketu, the governor inaugurated several community-enhancing projects delivered by outgoing chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo.
The commissioned facilities include the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, Agboyi Community Primary School, an ICT Hub, HRM Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sport Centre, and 4.45 kilometres of newly constructed roads.
Sanwo-Olu described the projects as essential investments in the future of the local population.
“The ICT hub will equip our youth with digital skills, while the roads will boost commerce and connectivity. These are projects that touch lives directly,” he noted.
The governor urged residents to support the incoming chairman, Mrs. Adetola Abubakar, as she builds on Oshinowo’s legacy.
In his farewell remarks, Oshinowo described the projects as his, “parting gifts” after eight years in office and expressed confidence in his successor’s capacity to lead.
In Bariga LCDA, Sanwo-Olu commissioned an even broader array of projects, including two newly built primary schools, 14 completed road networks (out of 21 earmarked), four Primary Health Centres, one featuring an ultra-modern digital clinic, a fully equipped fire station, and a legislative building for the local council.
