Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rewarded the overall best graduating students of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions with N20million each.

Sanwo-Olu announced the cash gifts on Wednesday during the university’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies held at the LASU main campus in Ojo.

According to a statement posted on X by the governor’s New Media aide, Jubril Gawat, the recipients are Ayilara Olawale, who emerged as the best graduating student for the 2024/2025 session, and Adebanjo Oluolamide, who topped the 2025/2026 graduating class.

Gawat wrote, “Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu and Visitor of the Lagos State University (LASU) today announced a cash gift of 20 million Naira (20,000,000) each for the Best Graduating Student(s) of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 Session(s).”

Olawale, a Project Management Technology graduate, finished with a 4.96 CGPA and First Class Honours, while Oluolamide, who studied Aerospace Engineering, recorded a 4.97 CGPA and also graduated with First Class Honours.

The statement noted that each of the two graduates would receive the N20million cash reward.

In a video accompanying the statement, Sanwo-Olu said the money was being given from his personal resources.
