She applauded the LG chairman for his thoughtfulness at packaging the summit and urged the women to be self-reliant, especially by going into agriculture.

Her words, “Lifting the people from the doldrums is always a conundrum for any leader but somehow, the chairman has found a recipe to it.”

At the event, the governor’s wife presented cash gift of N500,000 and other items to the beneficiaries courtesy of Ayoola.

On her part, the Lagos State commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation, Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada, commended the chairman for making life better for women, who are mothers and home managers, especially the vulnerable among them.

She appealed to the women to take ample opportunity of the 19 skills acquisition centres belonging to the state government and with the over 22 skills courses for their own benefits.

Dada also called on the women to continue to develop themselves as the fight to eradicate the menace of domestic violence continues.

In his welcome address, Ayoola said his gesture was aimed at putting food on the beneficiaries’ table and check depression.

Ayoola said the programme was also a means of thanking God for keeping him alive to celebrate 61 years

His words, “It’s my joy to see 3,000 beneficiaries cart away cash gifts ranging from N500,000, N200,000, N100,000 to N50,000 grants. Deep freezers, 1,000 units of 3kg gas cylinders, 2.9kva generating sets, 50 pieces of hairdryers, 50 pieces of sewing machines and 3,000 bags of 10kg rice to mention a few.”
