Saudi Arabia Condemns Terrorist Attack On Yobe Community

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Nigeria has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the people of Mafa in Tarmuwa local government area of Yobe State.

LEADERSHIP reports that suspected Boko Haram terrorists swooped on the community on Sunday, unleashing a reign of terror that led to killing of scores of residents of Mafa.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the village on motorcycles in the midnight of Sunday, shooting sporadically and killing residents including minors.

The Embassy’s statement emphasised the Kingdom’s rejection of violence, terrorism, and extremism, underscoring its commitment to global peace and security.

It further extended the Kingdom’s heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, the Nigerian government and the people of Yobe State.

At this challenging time, the Saudi Arabia Government expressed solidarity with Nigeria, reaffirming its support for efforts to combat terrorism and promote stability in the region.

Recall that the terrorists killed yet-to-be-ascertained number of residents, further setting homes and schools ablaze, among other facilities.

The remains of the victims were on Tuesday buried in Babbangida area of the state amidst tears and wailing by the bereaved families and their loved ones.

Security agencies said efforts are ongoing to recover and rescue those that are missing from the gruesome attack.
